Dear Parents,
It was great to see so many of you were able to attend Learning Reviews. These meetings are so important in ensuring that the teacher parent partnership can work at its best. You will also have received your child’s mini report at this meeting so that the teacher could talk you through it. If you were unable to attend, the data reports will be sent home with the children today.
On Tuesday afternoon, we welcomed our regular volunteers to join us for afternoon tea. We are very lucky to have a band of dedicated parents and others who are able to give up some of their time each week to support our children in reading, art activities, running the library and countless other ways. Thank you. If you are willing and able to volunteer next term, or would like to know more about it, please do contact Mrs Fowler via the office.
Today we have finished the week thinking about Good Friday. The children have thought about what they would like to leave behind if they can have a fresh start after Easter. When we return, we will be sharing some Easter celebration activities. The Worship Leaders have met with Mrs Dance and there is lots planned. Hopefully, when we return, we will be greeted with warmer weather. The children will be expected to wear summer uniform (see the website for clarification). Please remember, summer dresses should have small, dark green checks. The gardens around the school are bursting into life and, thanks particularly to Mrs Cooper, we have daffodils blooming all around the school. If you like to get involved in gardening, we particularly need some help to dig some new garden beds in our school grounds. And we are always happy for parents to come in for some therapeutic weeding!
Some early news about staffing for September: Miss Greenwood will be moving on to pastures new in September. She has been with us for a decade having originally come to the school as a supply teacher for a day and we didn’t let her leave! We have appointed a full time teacher to join our team from September and I am sure you will give Mr Davies a warm welcome to the Bidborough Family. We will of course be giving Miss Greenwood a fitting send-off nearer the time but in the meantime, I am sure you will join me in wishing her the best of luck for the future. I hope to confirm class line ups in early June to ensure smooth transitions for all the children.
I wish you all a restful break. We look forward to seeing all the children when we return on Tuesday 23rd April (not the 16th as I previously stated!) St George’s team can return wearing red. Home learning exhibition will be on the Friday of that week, 26th April.
Happy Easter.
