Newsletter: Friday 9th June
Dear Parents,
It has felt quite strange this week with our Year 6s on the Isle of Wight. Our Year 5s have stepped up and taken on some of the pupil leadership roles this week so we have already begun shaping them up for Year 6. Do head over to the Year 6 page of the website to see what they have been up to!
Finally, the sun has arrived at the end of this week. It may be short lived but in case it does continue, please do remind your children to bring in their yellow hats, water bottles and apply sunscreen at the beginning of the day. If it does get exceedingly hot, we do bring in further measures such as restricting time in the sun in the middle of the day.
On Monday, the teachers joined in with teachers across Tunbridge Wells to have some training around developing writing and the importance of Early Years. As professionals, we are continually updating our knowledge and skills and it was good to be able to have time as a school and across schools to discuss best practice. I know Mrs Hard, our English teacher, came away even more enthused about the importance of reading and is full of ideas about how to get you involved.
Our Year 4 children have all completed their multiplication checks this week. The DFE set a standard of answering 25 questions across covering all 12 multiplication tables in 2 and a half minutes! They all did their very best and we are proud of them.
We’ve just given a farewell to Mrs Leach as she heads off on her maternity leave – we look forward to bringing you some news in the near future! Speaking of which, we are delighted that we have recruited two new teachers to join our team in September: Mrs Housden (who some of you will already know) and Mrs Syms. We have our move up day on the 6th of July and the children will be introduced to their new teachers then.
Hope you have a great weekend.
Kind regards,
Julie Burton
Headteacher
