Newsletter: Friday 16th June

Dear Parents/Guardians,

It was lovely to welcome back our Year 6 children after their residential visit to the Isle of Wight last week; we had missed them!  It’s been a hot week but the children have all coped really well – a special thank you to Nigel Bragg for helping to erect the gazebos on the field which have provided some much needed shade.  Please do ensure that your child has a water bottle and yellow hat in school every day.  We are trying our best to keep the classrooms as cool as possible for the children but, if the hot weather continues and you have a spare fan you could kindly lend us, it would be much appreciated!

On Monday, Years 3 and 4 had their first Forest School session of this academic year, immediately getting stuck into a range of activities.  This included an ‘outdoor clip and climb’ designed by some Year 4 children and enjoyed by many members of the class!  I saw lots of examples of courage and koinonia in particular at this activity.

Throughout this academic year, we have been working towards achieving accreditation from Nurture UK’s National Nurturing Schools Programme.  This project recognises our commitment to prioritising children’s wellbeing and the impact that this can have on their success as learners.  This approach is guided by the Six Principles of Nurture.  Each week in Term 5, the children spent some time learning about each of these principles in turn.  Please take a look under our new tab on the website – ‘Faith in Our Future’ – to find out more information about this and hear the children’s words about what they have been learning.

School Meals

Caterlink have asked us to share a reminder that any school meals must be paid for in advance.  Please do check your accounts and clear any outstanding payments that you may have as soon as possible.  Year 6 parents, please ensure that your accounts are cleared before the end of term.  Thank you.

Golf Day sponsorships

Do you have a business or employer who might be interested in sponsoring a hole at the upcoming golf day?

We have two sponsorship options:

Standard Hole: £50 (16 Available)

Longest Drive/Nearest to the pin holes: £100 (2 Available)

For your sponsorship we offer:

- Include the business as one of the sponsors on email communication to the full parent body

- Place any marketing material you would like to display on the hole on the day.

- Mention your sponsorship in the website post that will go up after the event.

If you are interested, please contact Duane on bidboroughPTA@gmail.com or 07733808007.

Plea for information

We have had a couple of messages regarding an incident with a cat who sadly died yesterday after being hit by a car on the High Street during the morning school run.  If anybody has any information about what happened, the owner would appreciate this being shared.  Please remember to be vigilant and drive with care through the village, particularly at these busy times.

Have a lovely weekend and enjoy celebrating the special ‘father figures’ in your lives on Father’s Day on Sunday.

Kind regards,

Mrs Willock
Deputy Headteacher
