Newsletter: Friday 12th May
Dear Parents,
There is so much to celebrate this week!
First of all, our Year 6 children are celebrating the completion of their formal assessments. They have undertaken tests in English comprehension, grammar, punctuation and spelling, and in Mathematical arithmetic and reasoning. I have been so impressed with their mature and considered approach to all the assessments, and in particular for a few of the children who have been impacted by illness and needed to stay under close supervision and away from their friends for a more prolonged time. Well done to all of you, Year 6, we are proud of you regardless of the outcome. Now we can enjoy celebrating all their other progress through primary school - the creativity, problem solving, kindness, confidence and the multitude other areas that the SATs can't assess!
It was fantastic to then be able to join with the rest of the school as we commemorate the coronation with our own festivities. The children look great in their red, white and blue. From biscuit decorating, bunting creating and crown wearing, we found lots of ways to celebrate in creative ways. We joined together this afternoon for an indoor picnic culminating in singing the National Anthem and a song created especially for the occasion (you can listen to it here: Our King | Coronation Song | (Lyric Vid) Songs For School ft. Blue Coat School Coventry #Coronation - YouTube). Thank you to the PTA for their support this afternoon and for the special bookmark given to each child as a memento of the event.
We previously shared with you that we are expecting a new member to our Bidborough family with Mrs Leach due to start her maternity leave later this term. We are delighted to also share with you that Miss Latter is also eagerly anticipating the pitter-patter of tiny feet! I’m sure you will join with me in sending our best wishes to her and her partner as they prepare for their new arrival in the autumn.
Further to my previous email, please do remember to vote in our Parent Governor Elections via this link: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSd5orOuvkU7_uVqWtsQGBZU1wLELrmSiQTr-T9_YvV3UJDZzA/viewform?usp=sf_link. I have re-attached the candidates’ statements with this newsletter for your convenience.
I hope you have a great weekend (enjoy Eurovision!)
Kind regards,
Julie Burton
