Dear Parents,
This week has been a really mixed week. Our Year 6s are currently making their way back home after a successful trip to Pensarn, Wales. They have been a credit to the school and we have already heard of some brave steps taken by some of the teachers. There are some photos on the website already. They all sound tired, including the teachers, so hopefully will have a quiet weekend. Thanks to Mrs Housley, Miss Latter, Miss Sands and Mrs Sedgemore who have all gone the extra mile to ensure Year 6 had a great week.
Without our Year 6, 10 of our Year 5 children stepped up to take part in a Tag Rugby tournament on what turned out to be a very wet Wednesday. Despite the fact that many of them had rarely played rugby outside of PE lessons, the team worked so well together under the direction of Mr Cooper who stepped in to coach, that they got through to the Semi-Finals! A full report is on the website.
And all this after a trip to London to visit the Globe and the Golden Hind! Please see the Year 5 page on the school website. Thanks to Miss Greenwood, Mrs Wraige and Mrs Thorne for ensuring their safe passage and facilitating a great learning experience.
Thanks again to our wonderful PTA who organised BidFest. Although the weather was not ideal, the assembled crowds were not to be defeated! The day was packed with events from Tug Of War and Wipeout to Kazamatazz and live music. All had a great time.
As we approach Father’s Day, another thank you to the PTA for arranging a chocolate sale – I wonder who will be the winner of the lucky Golden Ticket on Sunday? It was lovely that so many dads were able to join our Reception children for lunch today.
I hope you all have a lovely weekend.
Kind regards,
Julie Burton
Headteacher
