Newsletter 22 - 2020
Dear Parents,
Our Year 1 and 2 children have just returned from their trip to London to visit the National Gallery. There are lovely reports of the staff there paying compliments to our children on their behaviour and enthusiasm. This follows hot on the heels of Year 6’s successful trip on Monday. There are some photos of their trip already up on our website. Years 3, 4 and 5 will have their turn in a couple of weeks and I am sure they will also come back full of the art they have seen.
Thank you to the parents who volunteered to come along on these trips. We are very grateful for all the support we receive from parents who are able to give up some time either to accompany on a trip or to regularly help in our classrooms. If you would like to volunteer in school, please do get in touch with Mrs Willock via the office. It makes such a difference in our school! An extra pair of hands is particularly useful this term in our art and DT lessons.
As you may have heard, we recently had a little damage to our hall roof in the recent wind. As such, we had a spell of ‘Wet play’. Year 5 and 6 have taken a renewed interest in speed-stacking during these times and it has been lovely to see them play collaboratively. Their ‘go-to’ activity of choice would normally be an online game but with a little encouragement to be creative there has also been chess and other board games played, some creative drawing and just sitting and having a laugh amongst friends. Whilst I am very glad that the roof has been made secure today, allowing the children to take up the opportunity to let off steam, it has been a lovely opportunity to develop indoor play!
I hope you have a lovely weekend – the forecast looks dry and sunny, if turning cold! Please remember to name all hats, gloves and scarves that you might send in with the children on Monday.
Kind regards,
Julie Burton
