Newsletter 2 - 2018

Dear Parents,

It was great to see so many of you last night at our ‘Meet the teacher’ evening and I know the teachers enjoyed matching children with their parents. For those of you who couldn’t make the meeting, paper copies are available of any handouts from the evening and hopefully on the website (we’re all updating our technical skills!).

It has been a very busy week in school. We began the week with visits to the Life Bus with our Key Stage 2 classes. I know some of you also went along to visit and find out about how this supports our PSHE provision. The children always come back very thoughtful and informed about how to make their own choices.

Also this week the children have had the opportunity to try out some of the clubs that are on offer. The Judo taster gave some of the children a different view-point on martial arts and some found that technique can be more powerful than brute strength (much like our double Silver Medal winning Dragon Boat team). I was fortunate enough to sit in on the Street Dance taster and the obvious delight in learning the new style of dance was evident. I’m sure some of them will be practicing the moves in the mirror over the weekend. We are still awaiting full details of this club and will send them out as soon as we get them.

We finished the week by sharing some of our work around ‘Inspirational People’. The individuals that the children thought of  ranged from the famous to the family and everything in between. More importantly, the children thought about how they could become inspirational themselves.

Talking about inspirational people, the Imperial Bidborough Dragons were in action over the weekend both at Bewl on Saturday and Tonbridge on Sunday. I know that those in the boat were thrilled to have such great support spurring them on and I’m sure there were some hoarse voices by Monday. The team, predominantly made up of parents past and present, certainly did us proud.

You should all now have received a pack of information from me (if not, check the book bag of your youngest child at school). I hope you will find this useful. Please do take some time to look through it over the weekend and return the necessary paperwork as soon as possible. If you have any questions, please do just ask either Sharon in the office or email me at headteacher@bidborough.kent.sch.uk.

I hope you all have a great weekend.

 Kind regards,

 Julie Burton
