Dear Parents,
‘It’s the most wonderful time of the year’ a teacher (who will remain anonymous) keeps bursting into song and declaring! It does seem that Christmas has arrived early this year following the very successful Christmas Fair last weekend. All the children are learning carols and parts for the Key Stage 1 Nativity and Key Stage 2 Christmas celebration. All children in KS1 should have received the first allocation of tickets in their book bags today so please do check. Details about Key Stage 2 tickets will be available next week.
Our Key Stage 2 choir have been learning a range of carols. They are excited to be performing at the Penshurst Christmas fair this evening and later in December at the CAMEO lunch. The full choir is over 50 children and they are full of energy and enthusiasm in their rehearsals.
This week the children have taken part in their second STEM day challenges. Children in classes 1 and 2 developed their sewing skills; Class 3 and 4 made decorations with moving parts and our oldest children have made a range of ‘pop-up’ cards. Reception class put their junk modelling skills to great effect and made decorations for the tree. The children across the school have been really engaged in their learning and it is great to be able to give a greater length of time in order for the children to become fully immersed in their skills.
At our last Governing Body meeting, we welcomed Robert Masters to the team. Mr Masters was previously the head of The Judd school and two of his children previously attended our school. We are pleased to welcome him on board. We currently have a vacancy for Parent Governor to be part of our ‘Social, Moral, Spiritual and Cultural’ committee. More information will follow in a separate mail but do please think about whether this is a group that you would like to support.
Our School Parliament and Worship Leaders have met together and have designed some developments to the Spiritual Garden. We would really appreciate a couple of willing volunteers who would be happy to dig a couple of small beds. If you are able to offer any time, please do let Mrs Fowler know.
Have a great weekend.
Kind regards,
Julie Burton
