Geography
At Bidborough, we aim to inspire our pupils to be curious and fascinated about the world and its diverse people, places, resources and environments. Throughout their time at the school, children will develop geographical knowledge and skills which will help them to deepen their understanding of the places and themes studied and make comparisons between them. On their geography learning journey, they will develop:
- Locational knowledge
- Place knowledge
- An understanding of human and physical geography
- Geographical vocabulary
- Geographical skills and fieldwork
Children will be encouraged to investigate, make observations and ask questions about places that they study. They will use sources of information to research, analyse, compare and draw conclusions and, through fieldwork, will collect, record and interpret evidence. Learning and practising these skills will enable children to deepen their understanding of the processes that give rise to key physical and human geographical features of the world and how these are interconnected and change over time.
