17th Sept Newsletter and MUGA
Dear Parents,
We kicked off our History topic across the school this week with drama based workshops for classes 2,3, 4 and 6. There will be 2 more on Monday for Year 1 and 5. It has been great to see the children already immersed in their topics. Year 6 also took the opportunity to have some extended art time and the results were incredible! Do drop in on the Class 6 page to see an example.
The Year 6 Pupil Leaders were impressive today as they led our first in person celebration assembly in such a long time! The children sat in their teams across the school and we shared in the successes of children from each class. Such a lovely way to end the week.
Year 1 and 2 were treated to a virtual author visit today. Abie Longstaff read her book ‘Story Soup’ to the children and they were then able to ask her questions about stories and becoming an author. Hopefully, it will have inspired some to get crafting some tales!
Our youngest children have also been incredible as they take their first steps through their Bidborough journey and begin in Reception class. They all look so smart and wide-eyed as they came down to lunch with their Year 5 buddies. Our family ethos is so evident at lunchtimes with these children and the Year 6 buddies finally being able to get to know their Year 1 protégés. They have been playing together across the field and playgrounds, exploring everywhere with such happiness.
The children have been making the most of the field on the dry days this week. Unfortunately, it is frequently out of action in the wetter months due to the composition of the soil. We are thrilled, therefore, to announce our plans to install a 2G all-weather Multi-Use Games Area on our grounds. The governors are committed to develop the school and its grounds to ensure that we have high quality facilities for our children to flourish in. For more details of this exciting development, please see the posters around the school and visit the website page for more information and to get involved! https://www.bidborough.kent.sch.uk/MUGA/ The PTA are supporting is raising funds for the MUGA too and all donations are very gratefully received.
