Weekly News 14/7/17

Dear Parents,

Another busy week! On Monday, we welcomed parents to our BEAM show. The younger children had the opportunity to demonstrate their learning by listening and following instructions. Mrs Sedgemore is very pleased with their progress; well done to all involved.

You may have noticed our new addition in the foyer this week; Mrs Mullis and the Worship Leaders helped to create a stained glass cross inspired by our competition design winners: Charlie and William Cooper. I’m sure you’ll agree it helps to brighten up the area and lots of the children have commented positively about the art work. A big thank you to Mrs Mullis for her hard work, it is very much appreciated.

We welcomed lots of you to school today. Firstly we celebrated the end of Enterprise Week with stalls in the Hall selling the children’s wonderful creations. This was a hugely popular event and supported by so many of you. Well done to all the children who worked incredibly hard to raise money for their chosen charities:

Class R - £45.00 (so far!) Class 1 - £29.00 Class 2 - £29.00 Class 3 - £49.50 Class 4 – £103.80 Class 5 - £104.53 Class 6 – £38.50

We were also inundated with banana business plans! Miss Hook and I thought your ideas were fabulous and couldn’t believe the variety! We had banana flapjacks, banoffee pie, banana face masks, banana milkshakes, bananas signed by famous people, banana fertiliser and lots more! We certainly have some entrepreneurs in the making! We will announce the winners next week.

This afternoon we had a musical extravaganza including our Year 2 recorder players, our Year 4 Ukulele players and our Rock Steady musicians. I’m sure you’ll you agree, this was a fantastic way to round off another busy week. We are proud of the musical opportunities that we offer at Bidborough and are pleased that so many of them performed with energy, enthusiasm and a smile. Well done to all the children involved in our musical afternoon today.

We are proud to have shared our SIAMs report with you this morning and hope you have had the chance to read it today. We are sure you will in share in our joy! As you know, we had a visit from Ofsted and many of you completed the ParentView questionnaire for that – thank you. However, you will also have received a Parent Survey to complete reflecting on your experience throughout the year. We welcome your feedback (we don’t see any of the comments from ParentView) so please do take the time to fill these in. We still don’t have validated results from Ofsted, we’ll keep you posted!

In other news, we said a heart-felt farewell to Mrs Marcroft and Mrs Tribe on Thursday with many of the children sharing their fond memories of them. Although emotional, it was heart-warming occasion shared by staff both current and past, children and their families. They will both be sorely missed but we wish them well on their new paths with the reminder that they must come back and visit their Bidborough family from time to time.

Have a great weekend before our last 4 days of the academic year!

Kind regards,

Julie Burton
