Dear Parents,

Welcome back after what was hopefully a restful half term. Today, we gave out 115 certificates for 100% attendance last term. Our whole school attendance is currently 96.8% which is a little below our target of at least 97%; fingers crossed for a healthy term. Congratulations to Class 3 who had a very impressive attendance of 98.8% last term.

As we continue to think about being healthy, it was lovely to see the children take part in Jump Rope for Heart, our sponsored event in aid of the British Heart Foundation, one of our chosen charities. Each class skipped, in rotation, for 60 minutes. I think the children underestimated just how long an hour is! Well done to all and thanks to those parents who were able to come along and support.

A key member of staff, particularly in our PE team, is unfortunately leaving us. Mrs Ronaldson has been offered an exciting opportunity to take a change in career. We wish her all the best but will be sad to see her leave on the 22nd of June. She will still be travelling to Pensarn with our Year 6 children and hopes to be back in a different capacity later in the summer term.

Our theme this term is around ‘Enjoy life, feeling prepared for every stage of life’s journey – Celebrate – there’s so much you can do’. We will be thinking about journeys and planning careful transitions for the children moving into the next school year. I can’t believe this school year is almost over already!.

Next week is our International Arts week. We have some events running for the whole school and it will certainly be a busy week. You are invited to join us on Thursday at 2.30pm for a celebration of the week – take a trip around the world from Africa (Class R), France (Class 1), India (Class 2), Russia (Class 3), Brazil (Class 4), Americas (Class 5) and the rest of the world (Class 6)! If you have any connections with these countries and would like to get involved, it’s not too late – get in touch.

As we near the weekend, a huge thank you to our PTA team who have been working very hard to prepare for our first ever BidFest. I hope that the weather is kind although Glastonbury has shown us that you can still have fun in wellies. Have a great weekend.

Kind regards,

Julie Burton
