We were treated to an assembly from Class 2 this morning. They gave us a whistle-stop tour of all they have been learning since the beginning of the year and it was evident that they crammed lots in! We were particularly impressed with their clear voices and comic timing in front of lots of parents. Well done Year 2!
Also this week, the children all had fire safety talks. It is so important to raise their awareness of how to keep themselves safe and to dispel the myths. The children said, “When the man came from the fire station, we learned that you have to check your smoke alarms once a week and change the batteries every year… We also talked about what we should do if there was a fire outside our door.” Please do follow up these conversations at home.
On the topic of safety, a reminder of our drop off and collection policy. Please do not walk through the staff car park at any time of the day. There is a footpath shown by the yellow feet. Staff arrive and depart any time from 7.30 a.m. to 6p.m. and there is not great visibility when turning in and out. At both ends of the day, including before school and after school clubs, parents/child minders/grandparents are asked not to park past Glebelands on the High Street. Some people are parking near the entrance to the Church and this decreases visibility for the children crossing the road from the top gate. In addition, parking along the high street in front of the houses nearer the school reduces the passing space for cars, often resulting in cars having to mount the pavement to get past which brings obvious dangers. When joining the school, you will have been given a copy of these guidelines and they are for the safety of our children.
If you are called to collect your child who may be unwell or who has taken a tumble, please DO drive down to the school.
